Our Story
Welcome to Remark & Rose! Our name was formed by combining my maiden name backwards and married name together. Joining together my roots of what I have learned on my family farm to what my husband has taught me when it comes to handling tools and finishing projects to perfection. I have three kids, who are always involved with what I am creating and I love showing them hard work pays off and to have dreams and goals in life. I've always had a vision I'd have a business of my own, I remember scrapbooking it in my Grade 7 class project with Mrs. Ruether. I was planning to have my own dance studio named Remark... this is a huge accomplishment and dream, and it really is thanks to all of those who have supported and believed in me, especially in my early days of creating.
During Covid and spending a lot of time working from home and raising our kids, I learned how to manage time differently and listened to my mind and body that I needed a creative outlet. I started scrapbooking with my daughter during lockdown and working on our newly built home by adding character to our walls. When shopping for certain products like macrame wall hangings I had a hard time finding something unique and different. After doing some research I found a local Canadian supplier of macrame cord that is 100% natural cotton, and decided to make my own wall hangings. I purchased her book on creating different knots and watched a lot of youtube videos- starting a small hobby. After completing bigger projects, word of mouth spread and received feedback from family and friends to make this into a business. I was able to get products into local storefronts and attend markets.

After 1 year of making macrame, I felt limited to who I could service. I decided to invest in a laser machine and start working more with wood. My grandpa was a woodworker and I feel like it runs through my veins to create unique and meaningful gifts like he did. I have a unique style I have established with macrame incorporating weaving into the design, as it creates such a unique look, and I try to do this with woodworking. By expanding with laser technology, I have the ability to work with various products, whether its with wood, acrylic, paper, cardboard, leather, or metal.

When I use my laser, it does the cutting and engraving with its laser beam by burning the material. When I am creating detailed 3D pieces, once the material is cut (either by my laser or by hand on my scrollsaw) I shape with my dremel and sand each piece by hand to give it a realistic look. I use high quality spray paint and tend to use various different shades of the color palette to also elevate the piece to try to create shadows to give dimension.

I am a huge advocate to inspire others to create something of your own. I host craft nights, whether its a girls night or Christmas Party, I teach a class and you create that piece with your own hands! I also rent out varies arches and decor. If you like to style photoshoots as a photographer, or have an event you can decorate and style the arches to your liking. I can also style and design if needed as well with any kind of rentals.
